VIOC Sets Out to Raise Over $25,000 for MADD!
November 05, 2009

VALVOLINE, AAMCO AND MADD TEAM UP TO TIE ONE ON FOR SAFETY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Each year, nearly 12,000 drunk driving deaths and thousands of injuries are preventable; Just drive safe, sober and buckled up

“Tie One On For Safety” kicks off this holiday season by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)’s as the lifesaving organization asks Americans to place a MADD ribbon or window decal on their vehicles as a pledge to drive safe, sober, and buckled up.  Additionally, by displaying the MADD ribbon the public is supporting law enforcement and MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving, which aims to rid the roads of drunk driving for good.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change (VIOC) will sell window decal clings for $1 per piece, which includes a $7 discount for the buyer’s next oil change and important facts about drunk driving including how holidays are one of the most deadly times of the year because of drunk driving . With VIOC funding the production of the decals, 100 percent of the money donated goes to MADD. The clings will be available for sale starting November 2, 2009 and will continue sales through January 2, 2009.

Valvoline has pledged to raise a minimum of $25,000 in sales to help further MADD’s mission to stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking. Parents with high school aged teens should visit thepowerofparents.org to find communication tools and frequently asked questions about how to prevent drinking by those under 21 and to stop drunk driving.

“As a responsible member in the communities we serve, the Henley Family of Companies (Valvoline Instant Oil Change and AAMCO Transmissions) is proud to have the opportunity to help MADD raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving,” said Todd Nelson, President, Henley Enterprises, Inc.

Laura Dean-Mooney, MADD national president, said, “Times are tough, but MADD is tougher.  We are serving victims at no charge, working to pass strong anti-drunk driving laws and presenting stellar resources that help parents stop underage drinking.  We are so grateful for the support of Valvoline Instant Oil Change and AAMCO and their commitment to community safety.”  Following the death of her husband Mike in a drunk driving crash, Laura joined MADD and began the hard task of raising their then eight-month-old daughter.  Laura’s work spans more than 15 years and includes improving laws, raising funds to further mission work, and sharing her story to inspire others to action.

Last year MADD provided victim services (grief counseling, criminal justice assistance, community referrals for financial needs) to more than 55,000 individuals and their families at no cost to them. We encourage everyone to visit www.madd.org and either donate or volunteer in order to help serve victims/survivors and achieve safer roads free from drunk driving.
