The "Batting for Books" program launched over the weekend of July 11th and 12th 2009,  and raised thousands of books for the Boston Public School systems through the contributions of fans all over New England, both at Fenway and at drop off locations throughout the New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island Valvoline Instant Oil Change service centers.

The goal: Raise 100,000 books for Boston Public schools' libraries

"We want this campaign to be as successful as possible and that is why we are swinging for the fences and have set our collection goal at over 100,000 books," said Enza Sambataro-Youkilis, Co-Founder and President of Youk's Kids. "Judging by the passion that the Red Sox and their fans have for the City of Boston, we are confident that we will surpass our goal." 

The collection game is still on and no one is giving up.  The success of the book drive has raised awareness amongst many locals and fans and all involved are still driven to do more.
