For those lucky enough to have cars like this, there will be no guessing.  They merely get an oil change when the indicator light indicates it’s time to do so.

If you want to go old school, you can test your oil manually by rubbing the oil with your finger. You’ll know if you need an oil change because of how it feels.  Real good oil will feel slick to the touch, whereas bad oil will feel a lot like water.
